Research Focus: Propagation and dynamics of epigenetic states

Despite an increasing recognition of the role of chromatin and epigenetic modifications for normal and abnormal development our current understanding of the underlying processes is limited. Our research is aimed to delineate, how these nuclear events regulate gene expression in higher eukaryotes and how their mis-regulation can contribute to disease. One of our approaches to this problem is to use microarrays to identify sites of epigenetic modification in a comprehensive and unbiased fashion (epigenomics) enabling systematic analysis.
